Welcome to Blue Moon Rising; a montage of fantasy, creative art and interesting artifacts, all confined in a small shop in the middle of Troutdale, picturesque town at the western edge of the Columbia River Gorge, just east of Portland, Oregon.

The mission statement of the shop is: it's not what you need, it's what you have to have.

A brief tour of the shop will show what we mean......

Handcrafted soaps, lotions, lip balms and candles mingle with locally made products designed to sooth the skin and ease the aches and pains of overwrought muscles and joints.

The front windows are heavily populated with dragon decorated accessories such as incense holders, treasure boxes, bookends, candlesticks and coasters. Fairies ,dragons and witches flit overhead, as mermaids and angels smile up at them.

The sales counter is covered with an amazing array of handcrafted jewelry, trinket boxes, Egyptian artifacts and quotes of random wisdom for small gift needs that garner large smiles of delight.

Imaginative fused glass dishes, hand decorated boxes, and more enchanting fairies cover a glass shelved display in the front of the shop.

Hand knitted hats for sweet baby heads cover a whimsical pole next to the baby niche. This tiny alcove is filled with handmade baby blankets, baby fairies, bead and wire wrapped baby spoons and tiny gifts to fill a shower basket with fun and fantasy. Gauzy fairy wings, wands, tiaras and tutus made every small maid look and feel like a fairy princess. Dragon and fairy coloring books create many possibilities for the artistically inclined.

A curvy island in the center of the shop holds locally designed t-shirts, beautiful Celtic-designed jackets, tops, dresses and scarves, as well as unique sweaters, hats and market bags. Sizes range from small to extra, extra large so there is something great for everyone.

Blue Moon Rising has one of the largest collections of tub duckies in the area.

From graduates to teachers, doctors, nurses and dentists to bikers, ninjas, hippies and rock stars, dogs, cats, lions, and unicorns, pilots, devils and angels, there is a duck for almost anyone.

Some of them even glow in the dark. A great little gift to tell someone to remember to laugh.
